A first edition copy of this complete two volume set of The Dutch School 1600-1900, housed in a cloth slipcase.
This is a wonderful catalogue of Dutch Seventeenth century paintings which was first published in 1960, this edition has been extensively revised by Christopher Brown. The volume is a catalogue of the Dutch paintings from the period 1600-1900 that are from the National Gallery, including the work of Rembrandt, Ruisdael and Hobbema.
The first volume contains the text, with comparative illustrations with these volumes having more detail on the technical data on major paintings. The second volume contains illustrations of all the Dutch paintings in the collection and some 280 signatures.
With 121 figures to the first volume and 433 plates to volume two.
Collated, complete.
Both are in the original unclipped dust wrappers.
CONDITION
In the original cloth binding. Externally, lovely. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Both are in the original unclipped dust wrappers which are also lovely. In a cloth slipcase which is lovely.
