The story: This is a special, one of a kind piece! My late dad and my sister decorated this jacket for my mom, who, along with my dad, owned "The Monogram Shop" on 5th Ave in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dad was known as the "mad monogrammer". He used a specialized monogram machine, invented by his uncle who owned the Hirk Monogram Company in Chicago. In the 1950s, Dad learned how to monogram ladies clothing from his uncle, and opened The Monogram Shop in 1957. It was a very popular shop, catering to many famous and well-to-do people. Every night, when he finished all the monograms, he would do an artists "end of day" freehand design to use up the bits of left-over silk thread. The patches seen on the jacket are some of those end-of-day fantasies, which dad called his "doodles". He signed the jacket next to one of the doodles with his monogrammed initials "LVG". One patch by the collar refers to my mom Bette as Pollyanna Fullcharge, an affectionate nickname we gave her. She liked to play the slot machines in Las Vegas, so another patch looks like its exploding, and says "Jackpot". The other patches are just random doodles. My sister added all the boho trim, as well as the taffeta lining.
Fun for parties, New Years Eve, outings with friends, or anytime.
No size is mentioned on the jacket, but my mom usually wore a medium. I am a 1X or Extra Large and it is definitely too small for me.
