Compagnon tribord Portside soldes Pal par Beki Killorin gravure couleur à la main pélican
Portside Pal & Starboard Companion
by Beki Killorin

A beautiful hand colored etching by Beki Killorin. These two pelicans a hoot to look at. They could have been title The Dynamic Duo of the Dock. These pelicans are beautiful with their brightly colored feathers against a deep blue sea background. They look like they mean serious business as they stand against the rolling sea waves.

Please excuse the reflection in the photos. The etchings are sealed in shrink wrap while on display in our retail store.

Beki was kind enough to provide me with the following information about this piece.
"A design’y pelican and influences of water movement. Rich and dark with splashes of color popped into the feathers. Very popular on both coasts. The Pelican was the first bird imagery that I worked with when I began exploring new subject matters. They were not created to replicate the actual bird but to be a designed image. From this point I developed many other bird imageries using the techniques learned with the pelicans. I still love the comical shapes of these funny looking birds. I took all kinds of liberty in shape and colors to give these little friends a happy existence and to make people smile".

This etching is a limited edition number 9/200.

The paper size is 13 x 20-1/4 each.

Hand signed and hand colored by Beki. Notice her trademark red dot on her signature.

Artist Bio

BEKI KILLORIN

"This is my language, the journal of my life."

"In the creative process, I try to not let the subject matter carry the painting but allow my own self-expression to create the artistic emotion and essence of the subject so that you, the viewer, can complete the story."

Beki Killorin, received most of her training in art in her home state of Oklahoma. Twenty-five years of artistic growth through the mediums of oil, ink, acrylics, collage and watercolor led her to take a major step into printmaking in 1983. The technical challenge of this medium, combined with her already well-defined skill as a professional artist, provided a positive avenue for printmaking as a full time career. Bekis original prints have been represented by Island International Artists since 1982.

In 1987 Beki and her husband relocated to the Pacific Northwest and from her studio in Washingtons Northern Puget Sound, she has been able to devote full time to the developments of her prints and further refine her skills in her beloved medium, watercolor.

Stepping into the new century added yet another dimension to her portfolio. With the technical advancements of computers came a process of printing known as Giclee. This process generates a print that is technically superior to most other types of reproductions. Archivally treated pigmented inks and fine art rag watercolor paper are used to produce these prints. With some hand embellishment on each one, this process has enabled Beki to expand the horizon of her watercolor imagery into the national marketplace.

Bekis style provides a contemporary look to familiar subjects that brings a unique life and spirit to each piece she produces. Every work of art or print receives her special imprint..............a small red dot that precedes her signature. It is an acknowledgement and affirmation of the wonder of Gods creation and His ever-present and lasting love for all.

Today Bekis original watercolors, giclees and intaglio prints are represented by galleries both nationally and abroad.
