Vintage Converse Wrestling Shoes from the 1980's!
Converse Mat King!
100% authentic.
Size 9!
An amazing pair of old wrestling shoes and part of wrestling history! You don't see many of these floating around anymore, let alone in the original box.
These are white and blue leather with suede trim! The converse logo can be seen on the side panels as well as on the heel!
These are new old stock!
These were made in Korea.
These have never been worn and are in the original box but these do have flaws like chipping, flaking, cracking, fading, discoloration etc (from age). Because of that, they are being listed as New With Defects. The flaws will be outlined in more detail below.
Because of their age, I am not sure how these would perform in a match or on the mat. Believe it or not, these are still flexible and can still be bent and keep their shape. They can still be worn and do not have any issues with wearing them, I am just not sure how effective they would be (if any), specifically in wrestling. The issue when folding them is that the flaking becomes more apparent and small prices chip off. My guess is that these are for a collector or for someone that wants to display the wrestling shoes.
The model of the shoe is called the Mat King. These are made by the same brand as the Chuck Taylor.
Shoes are in new old stock, vintage condition but do have defects from age.
Even though the bottoms are dark and discolored, these have never been worn. That coloring is from their age and storage.
These could also be unisex.
No holes or rips or tears!
The flaws appear to be cosmetic and there is nothing significant or drastic (flaking, chipping. minor scuffs, marks, darkening to the some areas, fading, etc).
Again, these would be great for any fan or collector and an awesome shoe for anyone in combat sports!
Please be advised that these are vintage shoes and not a new, modern shoe. Please refer to all photos for an accurate understanding as to look, size, condition etc.. I photograph the shoes in their entirety so you have a great understanding as to what you are bidding on.
Please see the following flaws as outlined in the pictures:
The inside of the shoes, around the top, there is heavy pealing and chipping from age. Please see pictures for reference.
On the back of the shoes, on the heel tab, there is cracking, fading and minor chipping. Please see pictures for reference.
There is a small spot/stain on the one shoe. This is near the heel. Please see pictures for reference.
There is some light darkening to the lower, suede part of shoes from age. Please see pictures for reference.
Around the front part of the shoes, there is some minor marks/spots and darkening. This is primarily on the toe areas. Please see pictures for reference.
There is some minor fading and whitening to the blue converse logo from age. Please see pictures for reference.
There are some light scuffs and marks to the shoes from age. Please see pictures for reference.
Around the lower portion of the shoes, some of the tan glue can be seen. Please see pictures for reference.
The bottom of the shoes have discoloration and darkening from age.
There is some minor cracking to the leather. Please see pictures for reference.
There is some minor discoloration to the tongue. Please see pictures for reference.
There is some minor discoloration / staining to the laces. Please see pictures for reference.
The bottom of the shoes, around the circle toe pads, soldes are also a little dark from age. Please see pictures for reference.
There are some minor scuffs and marks to the soles of the shoes from age. Please see pictures for reference.
Again, please view all pictures thoroughly.
I personally think these flaws all add to the look and character of the shoes.
Obviously please be advised of the condition and understand that there are some flaws as outlined above.
Again, these are vintage shoes.
Some minor and minimal marks, smudges, cracking, lint, discoloration, yellowing, peeling, cracking, chipping, etc. could also be present from age. Please be advised this is a vintage item and I do know how it will perform in any designated activity.
To reiterate....please be advised this is a vintage item and not a new, modern item.

Additional context:
Converse (/ˈkɒnvərs/) is an American lifestyle brand that markets, distributes, and licenses footwear, apparel, and accessories. Founded by Marquis Mills Converse in 1908 as the Converse Rubber Shoe Company in Malden, Massachusetts, it has been acquired by several companies before becoming a subsidiary of Nike, Inc. in 2003.
Converse initially produced winterized rubber-soled shoes and boots. During World War II, it shifted manufacturing to make footwear for the military.[4] Initially, it was one of the few producers of athletic shoes and dominated the U.S. market, but lost its position in the 1970s as competitors introduced their styles.
Converse's portfolio includes products under the Chuck Taylor All-Stars, Cons, Jack Purcell, One Star, and Star Chevron trademarks. It frequently collaborates on special-edition product releases with other brands such as John Varvatos. The growth of Converse as a casual fashion accessory contributed to $2.4 billion in revenue in 2023.
Converse started making an early basketball shoe in 1917 and redesigned it in 1922, when Chuck Taylor asked the company to create a better shoe with more support and flexibility. After Converse added Taylor's signature to the ankle patch they became known as Chuck Taylor All Stars. By the 1960s the company had captured about 70 to 80 percent of the basketball shoe market, but the shoe declined in popularity during the 1970s when basketball players wore competing brands. Chuck Taylor All-Stars enjoyed a comeback in popularity in the 1980s as retro-style casual footwear.[31][8]
Chuck Taylor All-Stars have made an appearance in over 650 films, such as Back to the Future, I, Robot, Grease and Stand by Me.[32] David Tennant (playing the Tenth Doctor) wore red and cream versions of Hi-top Converse on science-fiction show Doctor Who.[33]
