J BIRD & SON 1930s 18ct Yellow Gold Platinum Set Early Brilliant Cut Diamond Ring

An original vintage ring handcrafted in solid 18ct yellow gold and platinum. This wonderful ring was manufactured by Melbourne jewellers, J bird & Son and is an original piece from their ‘Meteor' collection, circa 1930s. The ring showcases a raised 3.00mm early brilliant cut diamond, elegantly enhanced with lace-like platinum shoulders. A stunning reminder of the expert craftsmanship and romance of yesteryears!

J BIRD & SON

Melbourne manufacturing Jeweller J Bird & Son was founded in 1910 by Birmingham born John Bird and his son Leigh. J Bird & Son experienced a prosperous start to the 20th Century, in 1920 due to an increased workload, John's second son, Eric also joined the business. In 1925 a wholesale business was formed designing and manufacturing jewellery under the Meteor brand name. Meteor became popular in the 1930s known for their finely crafted filigree diamond engagement rings. In 1992 Bird & Son joined forces with Fred Robt. Abrecht, a friendly, neighbouring competitor of 80 years and still trading to this day under the name of Abrecht Bird.
