DESCRIPTION
The first edition of this scarce work.
A charming childrens fantasy book by Edith Nesbit, following a group of siblings as they holiday at the seashore. Whilst enjoying themselves they suddenly happen upon the mysterious and magical world of mermaids.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, two folding plates, and eleven plates, by H. R. Millar.
Collated, complete.
Nesbit is beloved for her classic childrens novels, of which she wrote around forty during her life. She often wrote in a contemporary fantasy setting, which inspired many authors, such as Diana Wynne Jones, J. K. Rowling, and C. S. Lewis.

CONDITION
In the original publishers cloth binding. Externally, smart. Spine is a little faded. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few light marks to the boards and spine. Front hinge is starting but firm. Prior owners ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some scattered spots.
